Whats On

The Windmill Youth Group does not follow

school or youth club environments.

Therefore you must understand that our discipline, standards and expectations of you are very high.

If you can accept that, we will vigorously encourage you all the way to success.

The Windmill Group has been in existence since 1978 and we are totally independant, voluntary, unpaid and do not supply services for a fee.

The Group specialises in creating future team leaders and managers in Commerce, World Affairs,The State Sector and Voluntary Bodies

We are not interested in how good or not so good you are at school

We involve ANY young person.

If you have a Spark,we bring it to Life.

To help in our aims for you

We undertake all sections of the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme
from Bronze through to Gold:
~ VOLUNTEERING SERVICE ~ SKILLS ~ PHYSICAL ~ EXPEDITIONS ~

~ RESIDENTIAL COURSES ~

All activities are supervised by unpaid volunteers from the Windmill Group Executive Committee, who each have the correct qualifications all
up to date and years of experience.Professional staff occasionally are brought in, to assist with events where appropriate.

The Group works under strict safety guidelines as laid down by government advisory boards, the local educational authorities and the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.

We are covered under the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and by our own insurance, for third party liability.

Health & Safety

With regard to Health and Safety, our philosophy is to keep our youngsters "Safe and Healthy ".

We do not use the H&S legislation as the regular excuse we so often hear:

"Cannot, just in case we are sued"

In the Windmill Group we have taken the time and effort to obtain the right qualifications to do the activities.

We have very sensible, very highly qualified and dedicated volunteers,

with the achievement of youngsters foremost in mind,

We just get out there and do the job safely and for free.

"Cannot"

Is not part of our Philosophy,

HOW TO MEET US

We meet every Wednesday evening at 6pm

Blackpool Stanley Park Outdoor Centre

The Boathouse by the Lake (Summer April-October)

Stanley Park Sports Centre Sports Arena (Winter October-March)

Best drop off point is the Stanley Park Sports Centre Car Park.

However we encourage the use of bicycles or walking/running there.

JOINING

All Windmill participants have to join the organisation to involve themselves in the activities.

We train outside every week no matter what the weather.

(Come Wind/Rain/Snow/Ice or Shine)

There is no joining fee and the weekly donation to the Windmill Charity is just £1.00.

We are totally funded by other charitable bodies, various grant making organisations and mostly by our own efforts.

If you are interested in financially supporting the Windmill Group Charity

Please do.
