Recent Events from 1.01.2012.

2011 was a first class year for the Group and is portrayed on the Biking Page.

It is now time to give our thanks to its young chairperson RL who gave her all, continuously over the whole year and gained wide respect and admiration not only from the Windmill Group but from individuals, other charity organisations and commercial enterprises.

All of them speaking with one voice and with the one word

"Outstanding"

It is RM's turn now in 2012.

She has a very hard performance to follow after RL in 2011

but we have every confidence in her and ask all the Group members to rally around her and give her

your full support.

We need a Snows team this weekend Saturday & Sunday

7th & 8th January

The recent gales have blocked the track and there is also a large fallen tree hanging over the old kitchen block.

Weather permitting we need to clear these away and check through the grounds for other dangerouse trees.

Be at the unit for 8.30am. Back Sunday 6pm.

Bring usual food etc.

Full cooking facilities

This little team worked like Mighty Atoms in very wet and trying conditions.

They rescued the hut from being demolished and saved the day.

Well done.

You can be justly proud of yourselves.

Thanks to RM for leading them and for the pictures below

As you all know we are updating all your Duke of Edinburgh Records.

If you started with us prior to 2011 get hold of a memory/pen stick bring it with you to training so that you can download all the events prior to 1.1.11. You can then update all your records so that when it comes to submitting your books to the Award Office it can be done smoothly.

Those of you who started this year download the present Recent Events sheet from the website and keep your records up to date.

Do it before the end of the year as the Recent Events sheet will then go back only to June 2011 in order to fit the events which will take place in 2012.

An Invitation

Hello All

The Windmill Youth Group will be holding an evening to publicly present to the young members of the Group the awards they have achieved over the last twelve months.

This is a rare opportunity for these very special young people to have their achievements heralded at a local level. The emphasis will on each individual youngster and what they personally have achieved.

The date is Wednesday 18th.January 2012.

The venue is the fabulously new, Blackpool Sixth Form Theatre at Highfurlong. Not Highfurlong School but the new sixth form, the next one down towards Poulton. The one with the 'Brise Soleil' shuttering across the front of the buildings

The presentations commence at 7pm. and will be completed by 8.15pm.

This will be followed by light refreshment,in order to give you a chance of meeting the awardees.

The evening then draws to a close at 9pm.

Free car parking is in the rear car park of the college. (Last right turn after the college)

Then just follow the signs at the rear of the building to the reception area, where members of the Group who will guide you to the theatre.

We do hope you can attend.  All friends and families are welcome.

You will enjoy a very convivial evening and be very pleasantly surprised.

The President of the Blackpool Palatine Rotary Club made the presentation of.

39 Bronze Awards

24 Silver Awards

24 Gold Awards

A total of 87 Awards.

We could easily have spent a full day outlining your achievements and showing photographs but we only had two hours.

So we had to compress all your activities and what you have done into that short time.

However the audience was very appreciative and supplied you with nothing but praise.

You can be justly proud.

Thankyou to all of you especially the new members for helping out with marsalling and serving refreshments after the event.
