What's On?

The Windmill Youth Group is not the usual school or youth club environment.

Therefore you must understand that our standards and expectations of you are very high.

If you can accept that, we will vigorously encourage you all the way to success.

Otherwise we part company.

The Windmill Group has been in existence since 1978 and we are totally independant, voluntary, unpaid and do not supply services for a fee.

The Group specialises in creating future team leaders and managers.

We are not interested in how good or not so good you are at school

We take on ANY young person

If you have the Spark,

We bring it to Life.

We undertake all sections of the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme
from Bronze through to Gold:
~ VOLUNTEERING SERVICE ~ SKILLS ~ PHYSICAL ~ EXPEDITIONS ~

~ RESIDENTIAL COURSES ~

All activities are supervised by unpaid volunteers from the Windmill Group Executive Committee, who each have the correct up to date qualifications. Professional staff occasionally are brought in, to assist with events where appropriate.

The Group works under strict safety guidelines as laid down by government advisory boards and the local educational authorities and the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.

We are covered under the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and by our own insurance, for third party liability.

Health & Safety

With regard to Health and Safety, our philosophy is to keep our youngsters "Safe and Healthy ".

We do not use the HSE legislation as the modern excuse/cop out of:

"Cannot to do anything, because we have not taken the time and effort to obtain the right qualifications or just in case we are sued".

We just have very sensible, very highly qualified and dedicated volunteers, with the achievement of youngsters foremost in mind, who just get out there and do the job for free.

HOW TO MEET US

We meet every Wednesday evening at 6pm at Blackpool Stanley Park Outdoor Sports Arena in the winter and at the Back Oval behind the Model Village again in Stanley Park during the summer.Best drop off point is the Sports Centre. However we encourage the use of bicycles or walking/running there.

JOINING

All Windmill participants have to join the organisation to involve themselves in the activities.

We train outside no matter what the weather.

There is no joining fee and the weekly donation to the Windmill Charity is just £1.00.

We are totally funded by charitable bodies, various grant making organisations and mostly by our own efforts.
